Civic Sentinel turns the noise of online civic discourse into a calm, structured signal — so journalists, NGOs, peace-building teams and developers can act earlier, with more context, and with less guesswork. Built from Cameroon as a civic-safety research platform, it focuses on the places where early warnings can help people decide whether to travel, deploy, investigate, document or wait.
Civic Sentinel begins with the places and communities around us: towns, routes, campuses, markets and public spaces where timely warning can support better decisions before harm escalates.
Why we built this
By the time conflict shows up in a headline, the people most affected have usually been living with the warning signs for weeks. Posts. Reports. Local grievances. Anomalous chatter in a market town no global outlet has heard of.
We believe those signals deserve a permanent, structured home — a place where peace workers and researchers can browse, query and respond before the news cycle catches up. That's what Civic Sentinel is.
The platform is built for developers and operators alike — a clean dashboard for humans, a versioned scoped API for the software that helps them.

The cost
Communities upended. Families separated. Lives put on hold while institutions catch up to what they already knew.

The work
NGOs, journalists and peace-builders can intervene meaningfully when they get the right context at the right time.

The goal
Sustainable peace takes attention, listening and tools. The platform is one small contribution to that work.
What Civic Sentinel does
Civic Sentinel brings detection, notification and controlled access into one workflow. Instead of forcing teams to watch scattered feeds, clean data manually, build alert systems from scratch or guess which signals matter, the platform helps them move from raw civic noise to reviewed, location-aware intelligence they can use in reports, deployments, advocacy, travel decisions and software integrations.
Our model scores civic discourse, locations and sources to estimate near-term risk and routes the strongest signals into actionable alerts.
Configure destinations once — email, WhatsApp, webhooks — and the right people learn what they need to know without manually monitoring feeds.
Developers can plug Civic Sentinel into their tools with scoped, revocable API keys and clear documentation. We never sell your data.
Who it's for
The platform makes most sense in the hands of people who already spend their days near civic risk. Researchers, journalists, humanitarian operators, peace-building teams and the developers who support them.
Create an accountCivic-risk intelligence improves when more trusted people help shape what the system sees and how alerts should be delivered. If you are a developer, researcher, journalist, NGO, public-safety team, humanitarian operator or community organisation with field context to contribute, Civic Sentinel can become a stronger early warning surface for the people who need timely information before harm escalates.
